Preserving around 170 species of exotic palms along with other native plants, the Retreat Garden National Park covers 11 acres of gorgeous landscape. The retreat is home to a wide variety of birds and pulls tourists from all over the world for bird-watching.

In 1920’s, the place along with a small house was bought by colonial civil servant Arthur Langlois and his wife Margaret who was a Bahamian. Langlois was passionate about horticulture and was known to experiment in this filed. Today, after around 80 years, the place still maintains all of his plants and is a serene getaway in Nassau for nature lovers and tree lovers.

The place also has a small museum and a gift shop where you can shop for souvenirs. When here, don’t forget to ask for a guided tour of the place and if you are feeling adventurous, you can ask for a map of the place to take a self-guided tour.
