Nauvoo Illinois Temple - The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints - Review

This picturesque church is nestled in the historic city of Nuavoo. The building you see here is the second temple constructed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Unfortunately, the old building was damaged due to fire and tornado, but later, the church community reconstructed it again in 2000 trying to make it a replica of the first temple building. • The first trip I made here was during the Nauvoo Pageant last year and it was beautiful. This last Saturday, two of my dearest friends were sealed in this temple. It was a wonderful experience overall. The temple is such a powerful place, being their for such an amazing event was even more special. The pictures as they left the temple were beyond breathtaking as well because the temple grounds are so beautiful.

  • There is a special spirit one can feel as one walks the temple grounds. Today, we visited with the sun setting over the Mississippi, illuminating the temple. There was a calm, peaceful feeling, a stillness, even. Earlier, a sister missionary told us the reason why the temple is two slightly different colors. The color change marks how much of the temple had been completed by the time Joseph Smith was martyred.

  • Been here 3 times now and it never gets old. My wife and I had a wonderful time. There is so much history in this place and you can feel the spirit of those who have walked here before. Though the new Temple is quite different from the old one, it is nice to see the steps they took to preserve the historical feeling of that land.

  • This is a church building for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is for members that are endowed. It has much history associated with it.

  • Wonderful place and the people that voluntarily work on the sacred place are wonderful, beautiful and spiritual. The nauvoo temple is magnificent, is it really beautiful you should go and see it by yourself
