Webb Brothers Blacksmith Shop is a historical structure in Nauvoo. Dating back to the 1840s, this shop supplied all the metal parts of some 2,500 wagons prepared for families moving to the west. A tour of this blacksmith shop will show you how wagon wheels are constructed. You will also be able to see the blazing forge where the blacksmith makes the horseshoe. At the end of the tour, every visitor receives a “prairie diamond” ring as a souvenir.
Webb Brothers Blacksmith Shop Reviews & Ratings
This is a fun living history site. There is a wheelwright shop next to it in the same building. We enjoyed learning about how the hub of a wagon wheel was made. Next we talked with the blacksmith who made a horseshoe. Our group, actually each group, got to take a horseshoe home with us.
It was cool to see how a blacksmith shop worked and awesome to learn about how wagon wheels were made. The "prairie diamond" rings at the end were a cool treat my kids will not forget.
I have been many times but each time it is so fascinating to watch.
Really neat place! Learned a lot and received a mini horse shoe they made on sight, as well as a Prairie ring. Neat trinkets to remember this place by.
Awesome demonstration of blacksmithing. Free prairie diamond ring and miniature horseshoe.
