Tara Mines is one of the largest zinc mines in the European continent. It is operated by Boliden. Here the ore body lies between the ranges of 50 to 900 meters. It is historically significant for the deposits that were discovered in the year 1970. Trees were planted in the mining site for reducing visual impact. The water that is used for mining activities is purified prior to its release into the Blackwater River. The broken ores are being delivered to at least five underground crushers. Tara Mines transport zinc to different places across the continent.
