Pustinja Blaca is an ancient monastery located in Nerezisca. It was built in 1507 by the Poljica Glagolitic monks with the help of the Brac Prince. The ancient building is made out of stone and looks remarkably good for its age. It has now been converted into a museum that displays various artefacts from the 16th century including an ancient piano, a Redovnik telescope, gramophones and printers. In addition to this, an old monastery classroom and kitchen can be observed here.

Pustinja Blaca Reviews & Ratings

  • To drive on the road by the sea was terrible experience due to their width ...it is only for strong cars and good drivers...mostly made from small stones. But beatiful view to see the see and nature around...some small pieces of very nice beaches.

  • A must see. The place and it's history are amazing, great tour. You don't need a 4WD, the road is fine! Average hike so proper shoes are a must.

  • It isn't easy to come hire but it is interesting to see it. There are two options to come hire, from the sea side and from inside of the island but both ways the last 2,5km you need to go hiking, and the walk is not easy and usually is very hot when you are visiting so bring the water with you. Google does not know the path till there! It is old monastery that is now museum. It is made of stones in the stone.

  • Great tour! Long walk up and down. Loved the stories.

  • A remote monastery with a unique history. The best part is, you can only reach it by hiking from the road above or from the pier below. So you have to earn your visit!
