If you feel interested in history, you can plan a journey to explore the ruins of Stowey Castle. This 11th century castle is known as Nether Stowey Castle also. Local people call it The Mount. The ruins are located on the top of a hillock. You can observe the square shape of the fort and its flat surface easily from there. In 19th century, a team of people tried to excavate the whole but they did not record any striking result of the excavation. According to the records, the Stowey Castle was either attributed to the Alfred of Spain or to Isabel, his daughter. In the 15th century this fort got destroyed.
