The Joan of Arc statue was a gift by France to the city of New Orleans. The Orléans town in France was one of the places that Joan of Arc helped capture and her contribution to lead France into English territory and capture 30 cities was legendary. The cannons kept in front of the statue represent her weapon of choice.
Today the monument pays homage to the brilliant leader and her iconic statue on the horse-back,still remains to be as stunning as it was when it was first erected.

Beautiful Joan of Arc statue with gold plating. Near the Mississippi River in the French Quarter.
This a beautiful statue right in the French Quarter area. Great tribute to the Maid of Orleans.
This was only ok as the cars going by made their racisms known... My wife and i were takin pictures lady pulls up asks who is that and if we were taking pictures before the n****rs had this one took down as well we were speechless of the gaul she had to say that to us.... Sad truly is the attitude of theses scared of change white folks... Truly sad
There were actually two created, this is the second. The original one had a major flaw in its design...Joan was bigger than her horse. In resides in Philadelphia PA and is affectionately known as "Joaney On Her Pony"
Be aware the bums hang out here and socialize. Hold your nose or pray for a windy day to cover the urine smell. The statue and the gardens were fantastic and actually quite well cared for. So hold your breath, take a picture and wave off the hoard of persons hitting you up for smokes, quarters or dollars, or trying to tell you where you got your shoes from. It will be a quick visit but worth it to snap a pic and look over all the plaques, statue and gardens....... After you shower.
