Spread across an area of approximately 630 square miles, this second largest inland saltwater body is technically not a lake but an estuary. Fish species found at the lake include speckled trout, white trout, sheepshead, and redfish, along with about 120 more varieties. It offers a lot of recreational activities for the people of New Orleans.
In 2010, the lake suffered adversely due to devastating hurricane, causing damage to the surrounding region. Still this lake is considered as basic source for sustainability and economic development for New Orleans. Pay a visit to this remarkable lake to enjoy its serene beauty.

Lake Pontchartrain Reviews & Ratings
Come down to Lake Pontchartrain, rest your soul and feed your brain. That's where you will get to see everything the water can be.
Went sailing with a group of friends. Other than almost falling in, it was a wonderful experience. Seeing all the sails with their vibrant colors was a sight to behold. If you find yourself in the area on a Wednesday evening, look out over the water and you'll see a boat race taking place.
The Lakefront looks wonderful. It makes one of the best lakeftont views around New Orleans.
Had to share these sunset pictures of Lake PONTCHARTRAIN, crossing the twin spans. So much beauty right in our back yards in Southern Louisiana.
Sunsets are usually nice. You can't swim in it.
