Tipitina's rich musical history is the reason why the place is revered by musicians all around the world. Established in 1977 to provide a place for Professor Longhair to perform in his final years, the place takes it name from the song ‘Tipitina’- one of Longhair's recordings.
Today, the place celebrates Louisiana’s music and culture and hosts music concerts, live performances, festivals and events all year round that merge to show the culture of New Orleans. When in the city, do catch a live show here.

This place was simply amazing! I love that there is balcony option to see the show. The sound system could be improved a bit, but it didn't stop from seeing a great performance by The Dead South. The drink prices were amazing compared to any show I've been to, and there were amazing people to meet with it being based in an amazing neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Great spot. Nice folks. Great service. Great beer selection. However... I paid real money to see a favorite performer. Couldn't hear anything of value over the constant din of yelling crowd conversation. I thought it would simmer down once the band started, but no. It turned out to be a big loud social hall with barely legible music playing somewhere in the background. A refund would have been nice. BTW: This is no discredit to the sound guys or the band. I'm sure they did their best. But as a concert experience, it sucked.
Legendary NOLA venue a must visit if you love music on any level. Anyone who is anyone in New Orleans has played Tipitinas over the years and now (as of this week) owned by the guys from Galactic means it is 100% locally owned and operated.
If you love music. If you love New Orleans. You gotta go to this place.
Awesome historic venue very hip vibe music is always jamming. Band could start closer to being on time
