The bridge is one of the most famous and magnificent landmarks in New York. It connects the boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. This is one of the greatest engineering feats of the 19th century.
The impressive bridge spans the east river between Brooklyn and Manhattan and stretches for a length of 5989 ft, about 1.8 km. The span between the large towers measures 1595.5 ft (486 meters). This made the Brooklyn Bridge one of the world's largest suspension bridges.
The two masonry towers, which the many cables are attached, are the most noticeable feature of the Bridge. It also offers a great view of the bridge's towers. For visitors, it is one of the best and convenient places to visit in New York. It would take a few minutes from the center of the city to reach the place.
An elevated pedestrian path not only gives you the opportunity to cross the river without being bothered by the traffic that rushes past a level below, but it also offers a great view of the bridge's towers as well as downtown Manhattan's skyline. The views alone attract millions of visitors to this bridge each year. Brooklyn Bridge is one of the tourist attractions in 3 day New York City Itinerary and 7 days in NYC trip plan. This is a great place to take a stroll! I was staying in Manhattan, and took the subway in Brooklyn, got off on the first stop and did a little exploring. I walked back to Manhattan on the bridge and it was amazing. Even in the New York heat, it was worth it. There were people from all walks of life there, tourist and locals. There are people selling water, exercising, strolling, taking photos. It's definitely a walk, but it is well worth it for the views and just to enjoy to iconic historic bridge. You can rent a bike and bike across as well if you are just too tired from all the walking you have done. There are designated bike lanes and pedestrian lanes, be mindful of where you are walking as someone can be zooming on by on a bike. I recommend walking the entire thing to truly enjoy all the views and the city. It's a great place to go alone and relax, I'm sure it's much more beautiful during other times of the year and day. I went during the hottest part of the day and I still really enjoyed it. Make sure to take time out of your trip or day to just relax and take a stroll, enjoy the scenery.
The Brooklyn Bridge is a fabulous wonder that is iconic and classic NYC. Any time of the day or night is a good time to go; you can capture some excellent night shots if you enjoy photography, or during the daytime, great views of Manhattan and also Brooklyn. Please be courteous of the bike lane. The bike riders travel very fast, and you're at risk of being in the way if you're not careful.
Walked from Brooklyn to Manhattan along the bridge and it was a nice and easy walk. Walking this direction is great as you'll see the great views of the Manhattan skyline. The walk way can get a little narrow at some points so you'll need to make sure you're not waking in the bike lane as the local bike riders ride out fast and might hit you. As a tourist walking the bridge is better than riding it.
Brooklyn Bridge is always a great trip. Even if you are a local. Each sunset is different. The only thing that I dont like is the fact that there are always some JERKS speeding with their bikes knowing that it's a place with a lot of tourist walking slowly enjoying the view and making a lot of stops in order to get the best picture. If you are in a rush PLEASE take the subway or the Manhattan bridge or exercise in another place.
Walk from Brooklyn to Manhattan because the view is much much better. The crowds walking toward Brooklyn are massive on a Saturday and the bicycles going both directions make it dangerous occasionally. Just like Amsterdam but on a smaller scale. But, doing this walk was a bucket list item, a once in a lifetime thing, and just being there doing the walk was awesome!
