Don't bother here. I just ordered from Brooklyn Soul and items were missing from the order. When I called the restaurant to ask to send what was missing, the response of the staff member on the phone was that they are not responsible for deliveries. They use GrubHub for deliveries and suggested that I ask them if they can give me my money back for those items but of course she couldn't guarantee it. The staff member also noted they were too busy to address it and couldn't have someone come back to my apartment anyways. When a restaurant doesn't take accountability for their business partnerships, that is a business with no integrity. Additionally, the food that did make it was only good, not great. This was my first and last order with Brooklyn Soul.
As much as i want to love this place because its in flatbush and i love soul food, i could only give them 3 stars. The presentation of the food on the burners are horrible. The food looked dry because no one took the time to just mix the food up to keep the moisture. I went in and the girls at the counter were engaged in a loud and personal conversation. I stood there and while they finished their conversation i was asked if i can be helped. It happened once before and gave them the benefit of the doubt and visited a second time and received the same service
While I had high hopes for this food in the beginning, the arrival of the food took a hour and a half. I would've give them a pass if the food wasn't terrible. I had two orders of ribs, glazed salmon, and baked chicken. First off, the salmon was fried which wasn't described in the menu and was amazingly disappointing. I didn't know salmon could be as dry as it could possibly be. The ribs were burnt, hard, & completely inedible. The stuffing was unseasoned, with no flavor and tasted wet. I called the restaurant to discuss my issue and even offered the food back and they declined saying they thought the food was fine. I am disgusted by my experience and well never order from here again.
I've eaten at this place 3 times. The first time, the food was good but my order was messed up. I ordered really late in the day so when I called the restaurant they were closed. The next day (second time) I went earlier in the day and spoke with the manager about the mistake made on my order. She was very nice and helpful. She apologized, replaced my order and gave me a free drink. I visited again last night, and as usual the food is great. The young lady in the front could be more welcoming, but overall still a great establishment. I hope they open new locations.
The customer service was good. The meats also taste good. However, I did not like the any sides other than the collard greens. The mac & cheese had an onion flavor (I'm not used to that rendition of my one of my favorite sides). The sweet potatoes were too "stringy" (I'm used to no strings). Maybe the store should have a food tasting event and provide different variations of each dish (at a small fee) to improve the overall taste. The drinks were really good as well.
