The Chrysler Building Held The Title Of The World Tallest Building For A Brief Period In The 1930's Before The Iconic And Historic Empire State Building Took Over The Title, And It Held It For Over 42 Years. That Remains The Longest Held Title In Modern Times. The Twin Towers Then Took Over In The 1970's But Didn't Held The Title For Long As New Structures Are Being Erected At An Alarming Rate And Speed Never Seen Before In The History Of The World. Of Course That Means That The Title Of "The Tallest Building In The World" Keeps Changing Hands. Chicago Sears Tower Surpassed The Twin Towers As Tallest In The Western Hemisphere, But World Wide The Title Kept Changing Hands. The One World Trade Center "The Freedom Tower" Became The Title Holder In The Western Hemisphere With A Height Of 1,776 Feet High Counting The Antenna. There Are Taller Buildings In The World And New York Might Never Held The Title Ever Again Again. Of Course, Only Time Will Tell. The US Could Be Richer If There Weren't WARS, Because Wars Leave HUGE Deficits Behind. The US Is The World's Greatest Deficit Holder As Defenders Of The World's Freedoms. Of Course, As The Space Age Develops With Trump's Space Force Leading The Way, The US Will Be The World's Top Economy Soon Enough. Then, The Next US Super Structure Could Rise. My favorite building in New York. Wish I could go upstairs but is offices there with no access for visitors. This amazing art deco building is so iconic so is very sad for me not to go to the top. On the ground floor everything look so amazing so can only imagine how beautiful will be on the top. Visit for the first time last year love so much need to back there this year.
The Chrysler Building is an Art Deco–style skyscraper located on the East Side of Midtown Manhattan in New York City, at the intersection of 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue in the Turtle Bay neighborhood of Manhattan. At 1,046 feet (318.9 m), the structure was the world's tallest building for 11 months before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931. It is the tallest brick building in the world with a steel framework. As of 2018, the Chrysler is the eighth-tallest building in the city, tied with The New York Times Building. Originally a project of real estate developer and former New York State Senator William H. Reynolds, the building was constructed by Walter Chrysler, the head of the Chrysler Corporation, and served as the corporation's headquarters from 1930 until the mid-1950s. The Chrysler Building's construction was characterized by a competition with 40 Wall Street and the Empire State Building to become the world's tallest building. Although the Chrysler Building was built and designed specifically for the car manufacturer, the corporation did not pay for its construction and never owned it, as Walter Chrysler decided to pay for it himself, so that his children could inherit it.
Amazing! Gorgeous. I hope this beautiful establishment continues to be protected by it's owners and taken care of very well by the management office. This building is an American classic. Hopefully no other buildings will be built near it ( ~ 6 blocks radius) otherwise the iconic presence will cease.
Old world history. Architecture like many of the original Chrysler structures. Mr. Walter Percy Chrysler chose to pay for the construction in full. In this way his children would own this building that we today refer to in so many different words.
