If you haven’t been here, go. If you don’t think you like sushi, these people can change that. Everything is streamlined: you wait in a line to be seated, fill out your order on a card, sit at a bar to be served rolls the instant they are made and that should be eaten right away, and you pay your bill at the front with tip automatically included. The sushi fish is the most delicious I’ve ever had, but it’s more than that: it’s every detail from the rice to the soy sauce. The soy sauce is also the best I’ve ever had, and they brew it on site.
This is my favorite restaurant in NYC. Very simple sushi, no fuss - no flares. Just great quality ingredients. I stop here every time I'm in the city. The wait is typically 15-30 minutes but well worth it. They do not take reservations. Its bar service only so it's best to visit solo or with 1-2 other people max.
Incredible. Simple menu, but everything they serve knocks it out of the park. The warm rice and fresh high quality fish they have is amazing. Tried an uni special one time, on top of the existing stuff, fantastic.
Sitting across from the chef, you get to bite into the hand roll while the nori is still crisp. The flavor and texture of the fish is sometimes lost in the chopping and added sauces. All the same, the rolls are delicious and filling, and the staff is attentive.
High quality ingredients. Way above the average sushi bar. They have only hand rolls. That is their specialty. And the prices are great. If you go during the normal dinner hour there will probably be a line and sometimes the wait will be up to 45 minutes but if you go at off hours like in the middle of the afternoon you can get seated right away. Bar seating only.
