Pete's Tavern Reviews & Ratings

  • It was fairly late in NYC (well SUPER late for dinner) and my bf and I were really hungry. Many places weren’t open very late for dinner, so our options were fairly limited. Luckily, we found Peter’s Tavern which had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. We really enjoyed the interior of this restaurant – the restaurant has been around for a really long time and had several photos of celebrities who have visited the establishment. My bf and I really enjoyed looking at all the pictures while waiting for our food. I ordered the lemon chicken with mashed potatoes (it was the dinner special) and my bf got a steak. My lemon chicken was exceptionally juicy and delicious but the mashed potatoes that it came with were SUPER plain which was upsetting. It would have made more sense to have garlic mashed potatoes or ANY sort of seasoning since they tasted awful and boring. My bf’s steak was delicious and the potatoes that came with his steak were also seasoned perfectly so I ended up stealing most of his potatoes since I couldn’t bare to eat my boring and flavorless mashed potatoes. The service at the restaurant was good – our server was prompt and attentive so no complaints there. I would have easily given this place a 5 star if my mashed potatoes weren’t so bad.

  • My first time having lunch at Pete's. The ambiance is definitely old world and quaint. The matra'd or host was cheerful and attentive. The waiter was polite and gave me space to relax. Sat in backroom which is decorated with Hemmingway's catch of the day. Enjoyed a Dark and Stormy drink consisting of dark rum and ginger beer. The brisket sandwich was tasty and hit the spot. I will certainly be back for more.

  • Atmosphere was great and service was prompt. Skip the local beer and stick with what you know. Food was quite good though!

  • Excellent tavern, restaurant and atmosphere. It is fun to sit at O Henry's table. Great neighborhood.

  • Charming, historical, comfy. Parking is tough, the place smelled a little musty, and my burger was average at-best. Quick, friendly service.
