SoHo stands for ‘South of Houston Street’ and is one of the neighborhoods in Lower Manhattan of New York City. It is known amongst many for being home to lofts and galleries of numerous artists. Most of the area in SoHo is included in the SoHo–Cast Iron Historic District which is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as a National Historic Landmark. The district has 26 blocks with approximately 50 buildings. It is also marked with a variety of shops, ranging from trendy boutiques to national and international chain store outlets.
