Well of the Alder is known to have curative powers and it has been used for centuries. The well has been a major source of water supply to the villagers. People say that the water goes quite good with whisky. This place offers a large number community programmes that includes race, highland games and even golf weeks are organised. Wild cat trail meandering near the well is used for hiking. Large number of tourists visits this place for the miraculous stories that are associated with the well. Well of the Alder is conserved by the Newtonmore community woodland and development trust.
