  • Man, where to begin. First I guess it’s important to acknowledge that the price is right. Place is cheap, so if you’re here a night, you’ll be fine. On to the bad. Second, the walls are so thin you hear everything going on in your neighbors room. For a light sleeper, that means your neighbor who is snoring is just going to keep you up. That sucked. Thirdly, I’m not a fan of the foreigner/Japanese division in any hotel. In Japan, there’s a kind of “par for the course” division and then there’s the separation of this this hotel. That kind of mentality is just not welcome in this day and age. Ryokan are a dime a dozen, and this one offers a totally forgettable stay.

  • Quiet and luxurious little onsen hotel in Nikko. It is situated very close to the main temples in Nikko but will require a bit of a walk from the bus stop. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The rooms are traditional Japanese rooms with a tatami mat and sliding doors. Each room has a private bathroom and shower. You also sleep on futons that are very comfortable. The meals that come included with the stay (half-board means dinner and breakfast) are tasty and refreshing. The onsen itself is small but also very relaxing. I would definitely stay here again!

  • As my first time visiting Nikko, overall i love this place, clean, nice view, close to temple and if you wanna feel japanese local treatment, better to add this hotel in your list. The only problem is staff in this hotel are not so well speak english, you might read all details before ask or use google translate surely can help you.

  • Situated perfectly near Nikko shrine area, pick up from station worked perfectly as well as bus to station upon departure. Breakfast and dinner tasty and sufficient - no buffet. There seems to be no hot kitchen, we prepared our hot dishes directly at our table on a open fire stove. Onsen very good ! Staff helpful and friendly even though I do not speak Japanese. However room significantly below standard, urgently needs maintenance. If room had been ok then four stars, also compared with the other hotels on our trip.

  • The ryokan is located in an accessible location via local bus routes. For the price paid I was quite impressed with the standard. Your name will be handwritten outside the main entrance of the ryokan to welcome you on your check in date. You will have a shoe rack reserved for you and your guests. Your room and dining table will also have your name. It makes the whole experience very personal. The room is big for two. Baths are clean and well maintained as well. One major plus point was the private toilet in the room, we were expecting a common toilet but only the baths were shared. A bad point is maybe the lack of English support at certain times of the day and that the building may be a little dated compared to other ryokans.
