Another architecture marvel and an example of stunning Japanese beauty, the Taiyuinbyo Shrine is a lavish mausoleum and a sub temple of the neighboring Rinnoji Temple.
A walk through the woods, and the characteristic escalations and plunges are what you will experience as you get around the Taiyuinbyo Shrine. Having a historical significance of being dedicated to the third shogun of Japan and the grandson of Tokugawa Ieyasu – Iemitsu and having a high resemblance to the Nikko Tosho-gu’s ornate, oriental architecture and spectacular figures, this attraction too is a world heritage site.
The Omizuya Water House is what you will first come across as you enter the attractions; this is where visitors wash their hands, before venturing the inner grounds of the shrine. Supposed to be having purifying properties the water house is considered highly sacred.
The Nitenmon Gate, the Niomon Gate and the Honden Main Hall are the most striking features of the Taiyuinbyo Shrine.
