This is a museum of history and culture. It focuses upon the Nigbo area particularly. Souvenirs of Ningbo’s traditional customs have been preserved here. The theme of the designs is mountains and oceans. That is because the East China Sea has played a huge role in the history and culture of Ningbo. The whole building is shaped like a mountain and a boat. The first flor is whole but the second is tilted. Features of Jiangian residence- old tiles and bamboos have been predominantly used in the construction.

• Ningbo Histroy exhibit- spans the history from the Hemudu Culture to the Republic of China
• Ningbo Custom Exhibit- Mock building, Wax models and modern electronic techniques used torecreate the old Ningbo and its customs
• The Bamboo art exhibit

• Entry for the special temporary exhibitions is not free. The fee depends on the management of the exhibition.
