Nizwa Fort - Review
The Nizwa fort is the crowning jewel of Nizwa. It was built in the 17th century and stands tall and proud even today. This fort is unique among other forts in Oman due to the cylindrical shape of its main tower which also happens to be the biggest to tower in a fort in Oman. It has seven wells, a number of prisons, and prosecution ground. The main tower features many defence mechanisms Omanis used in the past such as pitfalls, honey traps, and gun shooting windows. The fort also contains many exhibits and artefacts displayed in each of the rooms of the fort. There is also a nice gift shop and a permanent exhibition that illustrates the geographical history of Oman. Offering great views of the Grand mosque, it is worth climbing all the way up just to witness Nizwa in all its glory.

Nizwa Fort, Nizwa Reviews
What a fabulous historic place which took you back many years ago to see how Oman people was defending their lands. In this fort, you will see their weapons and kind of traps as well as many other things they were using at that time. At the top of the fort, you will enjoy a nice view of Nizwa City and the markets around.
Nizwa Fort gives a unique insight into the culture, heritage & history of Oman. The history is preserved so well. The female guide briefed about the history of the fort very nicely & guided us to see the Fort first & then the Castle. Its a huge fort & the view of the city is clear from the top. Museum had many artifacts & the gift shop had nice souvenirs made by locals & students.
A lot of historical and local heritage of Nizwa is showing up from early morning for every visitor with traditional serving and welcoming you. A fantastic place to be visit.
Beautiful fort to visit in Nizwa. It's well preserved and maintained. You can walk through all the passages and rooms inside the main tower. They've displayed most of the equipments and costumes used during that time. Tickets are too pricey, 5 OMR per person (foreigner). Outside the main tower, you can find lot of gift shops selling verity of items, specially the traditional pottery items. And also there are some restaurants to enjoy a meal.
A display of history, including weapons, clothing, jewelry, money, letters, and of course architecture of how forts were built as place that overlooks the city enabling safeguard of the area being ready to attack any intruders and attempts to takeover and occupy the city. Also, having different rooms such as study rooms, kitchen, others. There's a gift shop at the end of the tour if you want to buy souvenirs.
