Auction Rooms, North Melbourne Reviews
It’s a cool place. Renovated from an old building. High ceilings and natural light. Order the Instagram full breakfast and daily summer salad. Salad is cold. It would be great if it’s a warm salad as all the ingredients can be served warm. I guess the restaurant prefer to make it early in the morning, put it in the fridge and serve them cold. Good for summer but no good for the taste. Goal curds was tasteful. Last but not least, the servers are cool too. You can hardly see a smile from them. All in all, food is delicious. Will I come again, I don’t think so.
Very impressed by the food and the coffee! Fresh, light, and yum. The only downside is the service. We went in early before 9am and didn’t get greeted or seated for a good while. Decided to grab a seat by ourselves in the end but didn’t get served till I was about to stand up and go to the counter to order our food. There wasn’t many people so we were surprised by their lack of attention. Would have been perfect otherwise!
The portion of the smoked salmon dish is too small. When I finished the dish, I felt like not eating anything in my stomach. The sauce is appetizing. Yet the green leave is so little. The whole presentation of the dish can be richer. I highly recommend someone who is starving not to order this meal.
Nice looking cafe but the service was slow. I ordered 2 chocolate cream donuts (which was on display). The coffees came out first, 10 minutes later, then it was another 10 minute wait for our donuts. The waitress brought out the donut and another danish. We were offered one donut and something similar. I informed the waitress that I did not order that. The response was it has chocolate on it. Clearly, the staff on the floor should have been honest and told me that they had sold the other donut to someone else. Not good enough and will not be coming back.
Sunday lunch meant waiting 15 minutes for a table but I took that as a good sign. I was not disappointed. Interior is spacious and well lit with natural light. It's a great environment for enjoying the company and food. The Old brick walls, high ceilings and indoor creeper plants make for a great vibe. Menu is mostly Breakfast items with limited lunch options. I had the Burger and an imported Pale Ale. The burger was delicious but the Pale Ale (pricey) was disappointing tasting more like a cider than a beer. The best was left to last with a superb latte. So smooth, perfect temperature, and full of flavour. Best coffee I have had in ages. Only improvement I can suggest is more options on the lunch menu. Will definitely be back soon.
