Not sure why this place has received low ratings. It’s clean and quiet. Super family friendly and accommodating staff. Beds are comfortable (medium firm) and room was spotless. Sure it’s an older building but for the price it’s perfect. We went to bed at 9pm after being at capilano suspension bridge and slept through until 8am, never heard a single person all night. Definitely will recommend to friends and family.
Booked this Travelodge hotel based on pictures of the hotel and stays at other Travelodge hotels. What a mistake. The pictures should be considered false advertising. The grounds and building are in a degraded state. The room decor could be described as "Early Yard Sale". There were stains on the worn out chair and rug and mold stains on the grout in the shower. The mattress was worn out. Even the air conditioner was full of dirt in the grill. Travelodge should either clean up this hotel or take their name off of it. It cost us about $1000 for a three night stay. The value should have been more like a quarter of that especially when the cleaning staff didn't clean the room and replace towels on one of the days. I asked for a couple of wine glasses at the front desk only to be given directions to the local dollar store. Avoid this place. There are better choices. As another poster said, "a two star hotel with 4 star pricing". I give it a one star.
Checked in and went to shower, the shower at full blast was just drips from the shower head. Front lady was nice and moved us to a different room. The shower was again a problem, but this time maintaining the temperature. Room semi clean. Great price though
The room is clean and nice, but..... I paid $200 a night, which apparently is a heavily discounted rate because it's "high season" (Sept 2 and 3). That rate does not include breakfast (and there is nowhere to get food at the motel) and they don't have a pool. I stayed at the Grouse Inn (literally next door) this time last year, and the North Vancouver two years ago. Their prices are similar, and for the money you get breakfast and a pool I will choose either of those places in future, if I come back.
Honestly not sure why this place has some of the bad reviews it does. I’ve stayed here a few times before, and I happily would again - the beds are really big and comfortable, there’s a TV, a fridge, a desk, and a microwave, and best of all, the staff are always really friendly and willing to help. The downsides: although there are times the wifi is basically unusable, generally speaking, it is actually pretty good once you find the strongest connection; there’s no breakfast (but there’s a Denny’s right next door), and there’s no laundry. If you’re expecting a 5 star hotel then you might be in for a shock, but for the price you pay staying here, and for the close proximity to both downtown (so many buses so frequently) and capilano... it’s great - and I’ve always been perfectly happy with my stay.
