During the first Saturday of October, the one-day long Brushy Mountain Apple Festival in the Downtown North Wilkesboro is one of the most awaited arts and crafts fair where over one lakh and sixty thousand people from all over the world gather to celebrate the high-quality apple harvest of the Brushy Mountains. The roads are closed on this day for smooth inflow of traffic and you will get to explore over a hundred of food concession stalls and 425 arts and crafts stands. Depicting the people living in the southern Appalachian Mountains, the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival showcases woodcarvings, quilt making, pottery and numerous apple products like apple cider, jam, pies, dried apples and so on. There are four stages set up where the music dedicated to the Appalachian heritage is played along with Square Dancing.
