The Cathedral of St. Mary also known as ‘The Name of Mary Church” is located on the eastern side of Liberty square. The church is a symbol of perseverance as it was destroyed thrice and rebuilt later. The final structure as it stands now was built in 1894 by architect George Molnar. Its signature 72 foot tall bell tower was finished back then. The architecture is baroque styled with gothic arches and about 20 stained windows depicting saints from the bible. In the interiors it has four altars and a pipe organ with 24 registers. The tallest church in Backa region and also quite serene.
