Divururmpola Raja Mahaviharya is a major religious site for Hindus. It is here that Devi Sita walked through a pyre to prove her chastity to her husband Lord Rama. This temple is a revered site and hundreds of Hindus visit it daily. Divururmpola Raja Mahaviharya is also a Buddhist temple and you will find Buddhist stupas and sculptures of Buddha in the complex. There are sculptures of Hindu God Rama, Devi Sita and Lord Hanuman here. From here, you can clearly see the Sthreepura mountain where Sita was held captive in a cave castle.
