High Tea - Review

As they say, “When in Rome, do as Romans do”, while you are in Little England head out to the Grand Hotel dressed in the formal attire and enjoy High Tea as British did. They have a wide variety of teas, with assorted sandwiches and cakes as accompaniments. It is one of the interesting things to do in Nuwara Eliya that will take you back in the colonial time.

High Tea, Nuwara Eliya Reviews

Really crowded restaurant. Arrive early if you want a table as they do not accept booking. Was there at 7:00 and got the last table on the patio(inside was already full). We ordered paneer which we think made us sick. The food was ok, not exceptional. We live in Singapore and got access to better Indian food than that. Of course, for Nuwara Eliya, I suppose it was good. It took us 30 minutes/45 minutes to get our food, all the tables were waiting and the staff were really in a rush. Overall, I would not particularly recommend if you are used to indian food.

  • We were 8 of us went to this place for lunch. The food was great, staff were nice, friendly and welcoming. However, it may be pricey for the locals. Hence, I would suggest to check the menu prices before making the order. Clean environment and toilets are clean too.

  • Delicious dinner and friendly service. Arrive early as it gets busy. Prices are mid-high range but worth it. Good change from the Sri Lankan curry we have had so much of.

  • The place is nice food was good. I had to walk all the way to the hotel for the wash room. The wash room at the cafe they said will open after 6:30pm ???? When I came back they didn't have what I ordered. I'm sure a hotel of this nature could definitely do better.

  • The hotel and the surrounding is lovely. The room we are in is adequate for us. The downside is the shortage of plug points to charge equipment. Ventilation is not brilliant as lots of condensation on windows. Food is excellent and lots of choices. Staff very friendly.
