Nuwara Eliya Golf Course - Review
The course was built by a Scottish officer for the British officials who were posted here at Nuwara Eliya. Situated at the foot of Mountains - Piduruthalagala (Mount Pedro), The Great Western and Hakgala; surrounded by scenic tea gardens, the course is an 18 hole, 607 yard and par 70 layout. The club has 2000 members currently. It is the only Course that has all the holes visible from the Club house, and is accessible by car.
The club has a bar and a billiard room. Menu includes classic bland English cuisine, such as lamb chops with mint sauce, and a variety of Asian dishes.
Dinner in a formal dining room would require you to dress up, men in jackets and tie and women in smart casual wear. If you do not want to go formal, there is an option to dine in the Casual dining room.

Nuwara Eliya Golf Course, Nuwara Eliya Reviews
Lovely colonial ambiance in the heart of the Nuwara Eliya town. The gardens alone make it worthwhile visit. Award winning immaculately maintained and enjoyable way to relax among the foliage and flowers. The hotel itself is charming old style. Don't expect modern 5 star appointed rooms. The highlight is its food with delivered exceptional quality during all meals. Kudos to the chef.
The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, founded in 1889, is one of the oldest golf clubs in Asia and probably the world. It is an institution, rich in tradition, history and carries an ambience unparalleled in this country. Founded, primarily for their rest and recreation, by the British planters who opened up the land for tea in the Nuwara Eliya district, to this day it caters to some of the customs and traditions of the country’s colonial past. This quaint admixture of old world charm and modern trappings invests it with a special aura, and is the essence of its attractiveness. It is located in Nuwara Eliya, known the world over for the premier quality of the tea produced in the plantations that surround the club. Despite being situated just a stone’s throw from the town, the club still maintains an air of exclusivity, a desirable apartness, so that when one enters its gates one is transported to a world that has been left behind by the march of history. The 18-hole course, 6399 yards long, is a testing par 71 and is made up of long , narrow fairways, bordered by rows of towering eucalyptus trees and elegant cypresses, held together by dense acacia shrubbery. Good positional play is must for a positive outcome and the course terrain, with its succession of undulating dales and hills, and the many water hazards, confronts the serious golfer with a series of stimulating challenges. Yet, despite its natural difficulties, it also caters to both the casual golfer and the enthusiastic amateur. The grass on the greens is local, mixed with bluegrass.
The worst service I've ever seen in my life... people are sooo rude. When they understand that you are tourist... everything is going to be double or triple price.. and everyone wants money from you... I will never go back to this place...
well kept gardens, stunning views, salubrious climate, really love this course.
Old charm but not well maintained. Great food though
