A treasure hidden deep in the city of Oak Lawn, Wolfe Wildlife Refuge is your next weekend getaway. Known for its prairie, yet left untouched, this park gives you the best of nature. With fields of grasslands ornate with flourishing wildflowers, the creek that flows through the park and its varied topography, the rich fauna that has made this park their home is amusing, to say the least. During migration, you will get to observe a large number of species of birds, but otherwise too, birds, animals, reptiles and insects are in abundance here. Recently renovated, you will find the picnic spots and shelters up to the mark, and the children’s play area well equipped.

Wolfe State Wildlife Refuge Reviews & Ratings

  • Great place for a gathering. We spent the extra money & rented the super cooker & that was well worth it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the tables under the pavilion are in rough shape. They definitely need to be refurbished. Especially nice if you have smaller kids seeing as the splash pad & playground are both close to the pavilion so you can keep an eye on them.

  • My favorite park to go to in oak lawn. We used the picnic pavilion for my daughters birthday last year and it was perfect. Nice playground areas, splash pad is nice for the kids. Hiking trails go around the pond, cute little duckies are always nice to see.

  • Ranger and I love this place. We go almost every day. Very clean. Very peaceful most of the time. Sprinklers and monkey bars for the kids to play with. Ranger enjoys visiting the kids.

  • It's okay but people are very nosey around there, even when you just want to sit in your car and relax! Everyone has a paranoid fit

  • Great little refuge. Kids area, plenty of wild life. Great bike/ walking paths. Overall great place
