Oakland Museum Of California - Review
The Oakland Museum of California is a museum that incorporates everything of this city that is the best. Primarily divided into three sections of art, history and natural science, the museum also houses special exhibitions of designated artists.
The art section holds some of the best creations dating from the 1800s to the present. Painters, sculptures and photographers contribute to this colossal collection of more than 70000 artworks. Moving on to the next part, the history exhibits help you explore the seven stages of evolution of California from the time of the native people living in the dynamic conditions to the golden era and then to the present day. This rollercoaster ride is encompassing with more than 1.8 million items sharing their story. The gallery of history is all but static with constant additions made to include stories that have not yet been told.
When you enter the gallery of natural science, a unique opportunity of interaction between you and the natural world awaits. The gallery is a proud presenter of California being one of the top ten hotspots for biological diversity in the country. Study and research artefacts of birds, mammals, eggs, reptiles, amphibians and plants go beyond 100000.
The museum gives an authentic experience and is a must-visit to adults and children alike.

Oakland Museum Of California, Oakland Reviews
One of the best museums in the Bay Area. Great museum for the whole family. My children were very engaged with the Nature and Science section. It was raining, so we didn't get to check out all of the gardens, but looking forward to it on our next visit. Also great price for the experience. Every first Sunday of the month, it is complimentary entrance and that is the motivation to pay a visit. The history of California was the best journey to explore. It shows how much a hundred years' span can change so much. It was quite inspirational to walk throughout the collected history of California.
I always enjoy the Oakland Museum of California... The exhibits are fine but for me the real treasure is the multi-tiered gardens in back is full of nooks and hideaways to read have lunch or spy on people. Even in a busy day it’s an escape from he museum, the heat and the dust of the street. It connects right to the cafe, which always has a unique try on culinary favorites. Not everything works ( to my taste anyhow, and I’m pretty adventurous, ) but it’s never boring or bland. I never leave without a visit to the museum store - even if Ii don’t see the exhibit, I can still enjoy a few hours there without spending a cent.
So thankful for this educational and communal gem just a bike/transit ride away from home. The exhibits are fresh, well-curated and insightful. The events are fun and unique. And the architecture and landscaping are stunning all on their own.
Lively space with east bay locals. Very nice vibe and atmosphere! Last Friday they had food trucks and a live band playing! Felt very joyous.
Art is ok, but the natural and human history exhibits are amazing. The experience of local culture on Friday nights is unique and amazing. This is one of my favorite spots to take a date.
