Almost twenty years back, a community initiative started a farmer’s fresh produce market. Little did they know that some years later, it would be a Friday ritual for the people of Oakland. Old Oakland Farmer’s Market is a place where produce, food, music and people, all come together to enjoy. Farmers bring fresh crisp produce of exotic seasonal fruits and vegetables. You will also see many vendors offering typical Asian produce like Thai chilis, jujubes and peanuts.
Hot food trucks during lunch time is like a sight for sore eyes. From soup to tacos, food is varied, scrumptious and delightful. Apart from food there are breads, oils, jewelry, chocolates and flowers. Enjoy a hot lunch, pleasant weather and great music every Friday that you are in Oakland.

Old Oakland Farmer's Market Reviews & Ratings
Fantastic farmers market with some of the better produce prices in the area. Usually gets picked through pretty quickly, so go in the morning. The flavored almond/pecan/pistachio tent is well worth your while.
Lots of variety, easy, organize d setups, cleanups by 2 o'clock. Can't tell they were there. Fresh raw peanuts, root veggies.
From the farms to the locals...fresh and organic. Between Clay street and Broadway on 9th Street of Downtown Oakland, every Friday mornings starting as early as 5:30am, vendors gather to setup their booths and ready to put out the fresh picked vegetables and fruits from their farm. You got fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, Duck eggs, Goose eggs, free range chicken eggs, Orchids, fresh caught smelt fish, food and music.
I enjoyed this place so much. There was live music and fresh veggies and fruit. Very quaint and picturesque.
I will be back every Friday for this farmer's market. I believe it's one of the best farmer's market other than Montclair Village farmer's market.
