Just do a Google image search first; from every angle, this place looks straight out of a fairy-tale. It has been standing for 460 years as of 2014 aE an unassuming if enchanting building that was actually built for defensive purposes. The time of itaE™s building was a period of unrest and it remained that way over the centuries; the trained eye will notice the towers are cleverly positioned to flank attackers; thereaE™s thick double wall between the two longhouses that make up the building aE the idea being that invaders will have to overcome multiple levels of defence; the outer wall were built so that hot liquids and heavy solids could be rained down on anyone attempting to breach the wall.
A Since 198 though, much of the place has been opened up to the public. The main rooms to see include the Hunting Room for itaE™s game from Africa; the Yellow Room that contains some terrific furniture; the Banqueting Hall that can be hired out; the Rigborg Room, where a girl was once locked up for bearing a child out of wedlock, and which now contains a fabulous dollhouse(Titania aE™s Palace); the Victorian Room, the Tower Room and the AdmiralaE™s Room. And of course, check out the brilliant vehicle museums.
A The 20-acre garden park surrounding the place is beautiful in itself. Fountains, topiary figures and gravel paths coursing through beautifully kept greens make it a favourite with strollers. There are even four hedge mazes, one of which is several hundred years old; and the newest maze is the worldaE™s largest bamboo maze.

Egeskov Castle, Odense Reviews - Write a Review
A small, yet beautiful castle with much to see inside; the view from the garden is wonderful. The places around the castle are great for families: with toys, games, museums, and other attractions that makes the place very fun.
Beautiful Medieval castle! The park has serveral theme gardens where peacocks wander around. There is a café. The Golden Egg and a sunwatch designed by Piet Hein. A playground and a big labyrinth for children, tree walking and goats. A garden house where you can buy plants. Museums with veteran cars, bycicles, fire trucks, planes and other things. And of course there is the castle itself which is really small but overall nice. The park is probably what's worth seeing the most and it's really worth it, if you love gardens!
Super place to go! A huge park with a lot of sightseeing and museums. A huge place for children. They can spend a whole day here! Very great place for both children and adults, a family place. Love it very much.
Wonderful place to spend the whole day. Plenty of space for the kids to run and big playgrounds. The gardens are beautiful as well.
Wonderful and historic. Maintained very well and a very good workout to reach the top of the castle (mind your head for the tall folks, like me).
