This branch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is dedicated to the savior's Transfiguration. On this site the first church of the city was built in 1221. Later Cathedrals were constructed on that spot, including this neoclassical one in 1808. The Cathedral is the burial place of Prince Mikhail Semyonovich Vorontsov and his wife. That is why you will find a monument to the man in the Cathedral Square outside the church. The bell tower of the cathedral has a carillon that is electronically controlled and plays 99 different melodies. Architecturally the highlights of the cathedral are the bell-tower, and a beautiful icon in a side chapel. There is an array of cannons on the ground outside the cathedral. If you can come to listen to the cathedral choir you should. It is said to be one of the best in the city. On the Southeast side of the cathedral across the road you will find a bronze statue Monument to Vera Holodnaya. She was a well-known actress in the silent film era. The statue is said to have done an excellent job of capturing her beauty.

This is the biggest orthodox church in Odessa. Foundation for this Church laid down in 1794 and it was completely destroyed in 1936,and during 2000-2010 restoration carried out. This Cathedral is centrally located and finding it out in Odessa city is easy. Intially there was no bell tower in this Church till 1837 even thought the project was approved way back in 1825 And almost for 200 it has been modified and reconstruction/ restoration carried out to bring back it glory of olden days. Now this structure stands tall to tell its tale during these years. The appearance interior is just breath taking. This is the best Cathedral I have seen till date. Complete floor is of marble and shining and this whole church is with abundance of light and space
Histoy lies on it. Definitely must go.
My favorite church in the city. Gorgeous interior, with gold and white being the predominant colours.
One of the most elegant churches in Odessa.
