This nineteenth-century palace is a worthy addition to the beautiful architectural jewels of Odessa. Built in 1830 by the Sardinian architect Francisco Boffo, the palace impressed the governor-general enough that he contracted the architect to design the Potemkin Stairs. Over the years, it was used as an engineering school, the headquarters of the Soviet Red guards, and a school for children. During the Crimean War in 1854 the palace was hit by over 200 cannonballs. Inside, the palace is lavishly appointed. The view from the upstairs terrace is incredible. Sometimes there are exhibitions at the palace.

The courtyard of the palace has a fountain known as day and night. To the northeast of the palace is a beautiful Colonnade. Check out the nearby Vorontsov Park, which covers 40 hectares. The entire complex is one of the nicest places in the city to walk around.

  • Nice enough. Not too impressed, though. Street in London, near Zoo, named after the guy.

  • Could be great tourist attraction if not for the city officials neglecting it.

  • Nice building, splendid architecture.

  • It always catches your eye, but I didn't see an entrance. What is it like inside?

  • Under construction
