The Pena Escrita Nature Reserve is a lee-explored place hidden in the mountains of Spain. The zoo is more like a national park that has many animals in vast enclosures, much like their real habitats. Home to a variety of autochthonous and exotic animals, this place is also suitable for hiking, paragliding and even swimming at the pool. Bears, hippo, camels, kangaroos, wolves, lions, zebras, African Antelopes, Mountain Goats, Ostriches, Donkeys and many other animals are kept here in semi-liberty. You can find some wonderful places to picnic and enjoy the mountains, cliffs and the Mediterranean Sea.

  • JUST BEEN TO VISIT THIS PARK,NOT FOR THE FIRST TIME,WE TOOK SOME FRIENDS BUT TO OUR SURPRISE THE PARK HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN AND YOU CANNOT GET INTO THE PLACE AS THERE IS A LOCKED CHAIN ACROSS ENTRANCE. WE UNDERSTAND AFTER TALKING TO TWO WORKERS LEAVING THAT THE ANIMALS ARE STILL THERE BUT THE TOWN HALL AS CLOSE THE PARK FOR REASONS UNKNOWN.THERE IS NO SIGN SAYING IT IS CLOSED ON THE ROAD AT THE BEGINNING OF JOURNEY 11KILOMETERS AWAY ALSO ON WEB SITE YOU WILL NOT KNOW UNTIL YOU REACH THE ENTRANCE TO PARK. DATED 14/09/2016

  • No information what so ever why it is closed. For how long its going to be closed. The telephone number doesn't work. No website to find. And the road up to the national park is horrific. So high, so bad, so small, so curvy you think you are going to die all the time. There are crosses along the road that shows were people must have been killed. SOME INFORMATION PLEASE!!!!

  • spectacular road, magnificent views and the howling of the wolves; strange very unexpected experience and nobody else in this "zoo"

  • Badly kept zoo now not open to public due to lack of funds

  • un entorno fantástico
