With a stark white lighthouse that is 30 meters tall, a small petting zoo, a rustic outcrop of volcanic rock at the shore, a monument with the statue of Taiki (the first man who sent from the city to China to establish trading), Cape Zampa is a wonderful oasis for those seeking for a rustic terrain with scenic views all around. A giant statue if Shisa dogs guard the entrance to the recreational plaza at the cape. Historically, the cape is where the Battle of Okinawa began. A small beach near the cape is where the US army landed and the Battle of Okinawa began.

Even though the cliffs are known as a suicide point, visitors can’t help but come here to admire the view of the China sea along with the juxtaposed view of the lighthouse that has become a landmark in itself. Entry to the lighthouse is prohibited but you can take a walk around the place to click photographs.

The best time to explore the cape is during the day when the low tide drains the water at the coast and gives you close proximity to the magnificent sea. A natural park located nearby is the highlight of the cape and has pathways that cover the entire cliff section and the surrounding green space. If you love nature hikes, make sure you add this place to your itinerary.
