The Fukushu-en Garden was constructed in 1992 to celebrate the ties between Naha and Fukushu. The entire garden is designed keeping in mind classic Chinese architecture and uses materials and works by artists from Fuzhou. The garden has a small Koi pond, a rustic but beautiful stone waterfall, an observatory that offers a spell-binding view of the surrounding area and a man-made cave that completes the park. The 6-sided pavilion with its classic Chinese design, the Zodiac bridge that has sculptures of all the 12 zodiac signs and the Chinese elements like Chinese vases and even the plants, all combine to form a serene oasis that oozes in rustic charm.

The Chinese styled design of the tower seen in the garden along with a beautiful waterfall and the perfect use of stone, water and wood is distinctly seen. The plants that are selectively planted include a variety of orange and soshiju among others that keep in sync with the Chinese theme of the garden. The entire garden is photo-friendly and if you are here only for a short time, make sure you spend the most of it near the tranquil pond seeing the turtles swim around.
