Sprawling over 7120 acres of wildlife infested area, the Hackberry Flats Center offers extensive wildlife sightings and other recreational facilities. With abundant mosaic wetland system, the Hackberry Flats Center is home to a number of shorebirds, wetland birds and the elusive prairie waterfowl. Hunting enthusiasts can explore the sunflower fields and the combination of mesquite and cultivated fields where doves are found in abundance. Ducks, Bobwhite Quail, Sandhill Crane, Cottontail Rabbit, Jackrabbit, Raccoon, Bobcat and Coyote are also the notable species of this area. Over 29 species of shorebirds, Ferruginous Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, Prairie Falcon and Rough-legged Hawk are seen during spring. Lake Frederick is a popular camping and fishing site.
