The National Rhododendron Gardens or the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden encompassing over 36 hectares is blessed with over fifteen thousand rhododendrons, twelve thousand azaleas, three thousand camellias, 250 thousand daffodils and numerous cherry plantations. A Mecca for plant lovers and gardening enthusiasts, the National Rhododendron Gardens take up different looks in different seasons and even when the flowers are not blooming, you can enjoy watching the bark textures, foliage shapes, seed capsules and the native ducks, storks, cranes and kingfishers. Spring is undoubtedly the best time to visit owing to the full grandeur of the flowers while the summer is for walking through the rainforest atmosphere, picnicking on the Cherry law, wandering through conifers and marvelling at the Hydrangeas. Autumn is for the fall colours of the deciduous trees and their reflection on the lake while winter is for walking through the mist and exploring the Vireya, Cyclamen and Hellebore.
