St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church was the first church for African Americans in Nebraska and marks the period of equality for all races. The destination in itself is picturesque and charming. Due to its huge impact on the society and its history the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is also known for its architecture as it has Prairie School architecture style which is very uncommon.

St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church Reviews & Ratings
Visited once at July 4 2016 weekend. Warm friendly people, pastor Leslie preached a powerful sermon. This is the oldest AME church in NE, but it's seen better days. There's only about 50 people left in a sanctuary seating of 400+. But with the new pastor, new leadership I think it will grow.
