  • We always make it a point to visit at this time of year. The holiday spirit is everywhere here with the annual Ginger Bread House display. So much fun and so creative. A must for the holidays. The kids will love it. And, no, I'm not Mormon. They welcome all who enter.

  • We love the Winter Quarters Temple. The grounds are beautiful and open to everyone to see the sculptures and tombstones in the cemetery. The visitors center is also open to everyone and explains the history and beliefs so beautifully.

  • Pay lay ale friends! This temple is such a humbling and sad place at the same time. It sits as a reminder of all those poor followers of Mormonism that passed away during the winter of 1846. They left Nauvoo for this place. Following a leader that really didn't understand (maybe he wasn't receiving revelation during this time?) the cold harshness of Nebraska winters. And in the end for what? To follow a supposed prophet who carefully crafted his leadership and influence over a people who really believed they were following a prophet? Why didn't he receive revelation to boil the water at the very least? Because he wasn't a prophet. He just wanted to live with his numerous wives in a place that wouldn't prosecute him and his fellow polygamists. This site serves as a tragic tale of those who should have followed Christ instead of a man. Or at the very least, they could've waited in Nauvoo until the winter had passed...

  • I love going here with my wife and/or the older kids. The is even a visitor center with pioneer-themed activities and exhibits for guest to wait or watch younger children. The visitor center is a great place to learn more about the church, its members, and their faith.

  • Wonderful, peaceful place to learn about the sacrifices so many made to head West. Nice place to spend time with family and have a picnic on the grounds.
