One of the finest tourist attractions in Opatija, the grand villa dates back to 1844. Built by a rich merchant Iginio Scarpa from the near-by town of Rijeka, it is one of the oldest buildings in Opatija and one of the most beautiful residential buildings too. Constructed in Palladian style of architecture, the building has a symmetrical and monumental stairway that leads to the area facing towards the sea.

Surrounded by an equally alluring park, it is a prominent site for destination weddings in Opatija. Richly decorated halls, painted ceilings, stucco-work on the flooring, Neo-Corinthian pillars, pretty curtains and mirrors make it an affair worth-observing.

It also hosts the Croatian museum of Tourism.
