Really enjoyed exploring the museum. It was super quiet on a Saturday, pretty sure we were the only ones there besides the employees. Might have something to do with all the barricades/fencing surrounding the entrance, made it difficult to figure out how to actually get inside & we weren't really sure they were actually open. I recommend it for anyone interested in local history or just looking for something different to do.
We go every year for Halloween as a a safe, fun, and educational place to go. They don't just hand out candy. They have games, and question stations where they give trinket toys instead of candy, and a different scavenger hunts. And I love how the exhibits change some every year. My youngest was the Greatest Showman this year 🤗
Very nice historical museum covering the history of Orange and surrounding counties. Very well put together informative displays along with interactive elements. Four floors of history from present day going back 10,000 years. It is housed in the old courthouse and jail. Don't forget to ask for a receiver for the audio tour from the receptionist. They really enhance the experience. We didn't know about them till we were done with the first few exhibits. The original courtroom was really neat. They have a traveling exhibit hall so that you can return months later and some things will be new. When you go give yourself plenty of time at least 3 hours.
It was a great experience. I love to learn the new and interesting facts in regions I explore. Some exhibits and galleries were not open. Now, I have to return and see what I've missed.
Interesting museum. I would like to see the exhibits and section dedicated to the survival and perseverance of black people in that part of Florida updated so it can be as vibrant and inviting as the new Pulse night club memorial. Just an observation. Well laid out and overall a good experience.
