I have been a part of the Orlando church of Christ for 21-years. When I needed god the most at a very critical time in my life my cousin introduced this church to me. The purpose is to live by god's standard in my life. I witnessed my 18 Year old son give his life to Christ as well. We are unified as one with his and we seek peace, joy, and love. We are a family church that pray together, and to go out into Orlando to help seek and save the lost just as we were saved. There is no other place I, we want to be. To god be the glory.
This church is so much more that a place to get deep into God's word and worship Him; it is a family. As a part of this family for eight years, I have felt so loved and supported through each and every season of my life. I would encourage anyone to come out and find their place here.
This church has changed my life. Growing up catholic, I was turned off by religion. I had created my own set of standards of living, pulling from various different systems of belief, just following my own stream. Religion, and churches as a whole seemed like a facade and hypocritical in many ways. I "church hopped" looking for a place to lay my hat, happy and yet not fulfilled in my faith. My husband, a fan of a fan (me), church hopped with me, never expecting more than the routine that followed every church I had ever been in. None ever felt right. Then, I happened upon this place by the encouragement of someone I had met, who is now one of the closest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing in my life. We met and had much in common, and yet we also were so very different. She glowed. Her faith of God and his love resonated off of her like a warm ray on sunshine and she said, "Come to my church. 4 times. and you'll never leave." I laughed at such a bold statement...but with my husband and children in tow, we made the decision to "try her church out"... From the moment I walked in, everything about it felt different to the cold environment that "masses" were held in. I went from priest to pastor. From Mass to a sermon... I almost didn't know how to act. I sat surrounded by the enthusiasm for the Lord I didn't quite understand but I yearned for. I looked around and smiling faces met mine, and when service was over I was approached in droves by those who just wanted to say "hello!". Genuine HELLO's. People who were happy to see you, yet who had never met you. Confused, but intrigued. I pursued my journey into Christianity. Uncomfortable in the beginning to meet others enthusiasm with my own, which seemed sub par to their own. I had many questions that I pondered. Questions and arguments I had against certain claims or beliefs I was uncomfortable with...and that woman, who I met on that fateful day, sat with me and taught me many of my thoughts on religion were misconceptions, misdirections from the true point of it all. A relationship with God, is what its all about, isn't it? I was baptized in 2015 and I have not looked back.My husband was baptized the same day, now a true warrior for the Lord. Through this journey I have gained so much. I am surrounded by love, support and grace. A place for sinners to live in light, to shed love and joy. Not judgement and hate. To change the world, one loved soul at a time. This church, these people, our God...is everything. This place is a home for the lost and wandering. Those searching needn't look further. Matthew 9:13 But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
I love the racial diversity and closeness of the people in the church; one big spiritual family! Yes, there are issues just as there are issues in my physical family, but people work towards reconciliation and unity. The people are real and the church isn't fancy, but the word of God is preached. That's important to me. I've been attending since moving to Orlando in July 2003.
Wonderful place of worship and to worship. The church family is welcoming, loving and approachable. Quite rare to experience, I fell in love with the people because of their love for God the savior.
