Porta San Giuseppe is the fifteenth-century gate in the city of Copertino, Italy. Dedicated to the Copertino saint, the gate was recognized as the only access road to the city. The wall was also built along the gate. It was a simple, plain gate till the seventeenth century. But, after that then-Mayor Giulio Cesare Lezzi transformed the whole structure into a beautiful monument. Carvings representing the saints in the seventeenth-century were added on the inner side. You will come across this historical monument while wandering the streets of Copertino.
