Before there was the London Eye, there was THE Tempozan Ferris Wheel! Situated at the mouth of the Osaka Bay, Tempozan Ferris Wheel was the biggest, tallest and most technologically advanced observation wheel in the world (it was later surpassed by the gigantic London Eye). From the top, one gets to see beautiful panoramic views of the sea, the mountains and the entire city of Osaka. During the night, the Ferris wheel is illuminated with bright colours and makes for a delightful sight to look at. This illuminated sight of the wheel along with the views it provides has made it into a popular romantic date spot with the locals. Trivia- the Tempozan Ferris Wheel is 112.5 meters in height and has 60 eight-passenger cars (maximum capacity of 480 people).

  • Entry fee for everyone over 3 years old: ¥ 800
  • Differently abled people: ¥ 350

  • The Ferris wheel might have some unscheduled maintenance holidays or might be closed for a few hours during the day.

  • It’s a Ferris wheel, and a huge one! Went near close on a weekday and there was no line for a regular car and a 5 minute wait for a transparent car! Good views of the city and the harbor. Decent way to spend 15 minutes and 800 yen. Apparently the lights tell the weather forecast? Not sure - but it does show some fish, clouds, and occasionally the time of day. Win for Osaka - win for you.

  • Why not to try it?! It is bigger than London Eye and when the weather is nice you can see most of Osaka. It is situated next to Aquarium in a port of Osaka. So you have a chance to visit exhibition of fish and observe the huge port.

  • The view is totally mesmerizing. This one I really recommend. You'll see two really nice bridges. The Marvel of architecture. The really view of port. This is one of the most relaxing places in Osaka. Must visit it during evening if you're interested in nice sunset or at night if you wanna see some pretty night light.

  • For ¥800 it's not a bad way to see the Osaka skyline. A ride will take around 5-7 minutes and taking a fully transparent capsule will give you really good look at your surroundings. Although it's not a bad way to see the area, I probably wouldn't ride it again.

  • A very nice attraction when you're in the neighborhood. The only reason I went on the wheel was because it was possible to get a discount, together with the aquarium. It definitely goes up high. It reaches a height of 112.5m. Very useful if you want to challenge your fear of heights.
