Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park - Review
The Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park in Archuleta County is a safe abode for the rescued elusive animals of the Rockies and here you with your kids can enjoy a wildlife safari on foot or on horseback, experience a feeding tour or even adopt an animal. This privately owned and operated facility since 1986 has been educating the people about the importance of animals in the ecology of that area. The animal enclosures of Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park are so beautifully created on the theme of their natural habitat that the animals thrive here peacefully and are totally cool with the proximity of the humans. The 1/4th mile trail will let you encounter snow leopards, coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, bear, wolves, elk, fox and porcupines.

Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park, Pagosa Springs Reviews
Awesome spot to stop, in fact if you live in Pagosa and haven't been you're missing out. If you're just visiting this is a perfect way to get a feel for the wildlife we have in this area. I recommend going during feeding time. You can get a tour and watch the animals all get fed and they explain as much as they can and answer all your questions. This place is cool!
Was small but fun. Can walk around the whole place in like 20 minutes. Kids loved feeding the goats. Wife and I liked being able to see grizzly and black bears up close. Had a vibe like the movie "we bought a Zoo". Definitely come early morning or late afternoon when they feed them otherwise you're paying to see a bunch of sleeping animals.
We had a good time here. I recommend going a bit before 4pm, that is their feeding time. We got there around 3pm, walked around and checked out all the animals and then followed the zookeeper around while she fed them all. While she is feeding she was introducing them to the crowd and telling a little bit about them and their species. They have a gift store and offer horseback riding as well. If you are in or traveling through Pagosa Springs this is a must stop.
We were here for the feeding tour. The animals appear well cared for and the staff was very knowledgeable and obviously cared a lot about the animals. Nonetheless, it was sad to see them, especially the ones in fairly small cages. The kids on the tour loved it and the staff were good at answering their questions. You can see the whole place in an hour, it's not that big. Worth going just to throw a little financial support to the animals.
This is a small place but worth visiting. The animals came out to visit. The bear walked along the enclosure with us. The mountain lion got up to show us how beautiful he was. We fed the goats and got to adore the cute little rabbits.
