Kavassery is a small village lying in the South Indian state of Kerala. It is mainly famous for the annual festival organized here, known as Kavassery Pooram. It is the second biggest Pooram in Kerala. It is a Hindu Temple Festival, and an important aspect of this village. The Sree Parakkat Bhagavathy Temple is located in this village and is a site of great historical significance. The festival is organized around the temple and begins with a procession of elephants. These animals are adorned with golden jewellery and three men are placed on top of them. After the festival is over, fireworks are set off.
