This UNESCO World Heritage site is a popular tourist attraction in Kalabaka. This rock formation is home to ancient monasteries. Though the area was occupied by monks in the eleventh century, the building of the monasteries started in the fourteenth century. In the sixteenth century, there were more than twenty monasteries here. Out of those twenty, only six are functional today. The views and gardens offer a breathtaking view. You can explore the ruins of other establishments here. Take a guided tour of the place and you learn a fascinating history and interesting stories of this place. Try to reach early in the morning as it tends to get crowded in the noon.
