Bellver Castle - Review
On the outskirt region of the city, towards the northwest of Palma, Bellver Castle is located at the top of the hill. It was built in 14th century by King James II Majorca as a royal residence. The striking feature of this castle is its shape. The castle is in a round shape, that is something not a common feature among other Spanish castle. Later in 1976, the castle was turned into the city’s history museum. At present, tourists have accessibility to visit the place. The main yard is now used for public ceremonies, such as cultural acts and concerts. The inner courtyard is surrounded by two colonnaded floors. From the center, you get access to the underground water cistern. On the second floor, a chapel of Saint Marc is there which you can visit.

Bellver Castle, Palma De Mallorca Reviews
Perfect for a walk in the afternoon, on hot summer days. There is plenty of shade in the gardens around the castle. There are two options: stairs (short path) or alley (long path). Took the long path upwards when climbing the hill and the stairs when returning. Great views towards the port along the way (there were three cruise ships), also the Cathedral was visible - even from such a distance. Castle architecture is impressive. Pretty windy up on the terrace, next to the tower, so you'd better hold on to your hats :)
Great castle to spend 1/1.5 hours. Walkable from downtown but expect stairs, lots and lots of stairs. Do NOT walk towards the castle via de road. You end up walking way longer than you should. Just take a bus or car. Ticket office is 500 meters away from the entrance near the parking lot. Also there is a restaurant. When you finally get there, you have a nice view of Mallorca. Enjoy!
As old castles go it is very well preserved and has a great view over the city and coast. On the downside it isn't easy to get to; if there is a service bus that visits the details of it are non-existent; the taxi numbers shown in the ticket kiosk are not working; the kiosk itself is 200 yards from the entrance but there are no signs explaining that. I took a taxi up to it which was well priced but the walk down to the taxi rank finds muscles you don't often use!
Beautiful! Amazing castle! The visit is about 1hour 1/2 including the museum. It's largely worth the 4euros a person. Allthough the ticket booth and the entrance are pretty far away one from the other, so when arriving by foot instead of by car the ticket booth location is not well indicated.
If you want to see panorama of Palma it's the best place to go. Not very expensive only 4 euro and 2euro with student discount. Also this castle is very interesting because of the round shape of it.
