L'aventure Du Sucre - Review

An ancient sugar factory turned museum teamed up with a lovely restaurant in the garden, that's what L'Aventure du Sucre is all about. The walls of the museum are decorated with pictures and stories that are very impressive and interesting. The sugarcane cutting and rum cocktail making are indeed fun. You get to taste 12 kinds of sugar here and 4 different kinds of rum. The food at the restaurant is delicious while the seating is more than comfortable. Young adults would sure enjoy their trip here.

  • Sugar industry was the main pillar of the Mauritian economy for a long time and L'aventure du Sucre offers a comprehensive journey into the island's history since the first settlers. There is a lot of reading material to cover so it takes at least a couple of hours to browse through. And the sugar tasting included can be also quite nice.

  • went for one wedding there. the food was very good. I usually don't eat everywhere because of my allergies. Over there when i said that I'm allergic to onion they prepared separate meal for me.

  • Entrance fee is 400 MUR, I wasn’t happy about he tour as there is no guide to answer visitor questions and to describe the singer process even there isn’t sound or electronic guide to describe the singer process. They need to develop the visitor experience otherwise no one will come. I had a very bad experience here and I will never come back. If you didn’t read about sugar and have some knowledge about it will be west of time & money to go there.

  • It will probably last you about more than half a day if you are to visit AND learn about Mauritius, with a definitive focus on the sugar cane industry. As a local, I also got to learn a lot of new things about our history. Life was so different. Very well explained and illustrated with short videos and animations. You can take mini breaks and carry on with your tour. Very well made and maintained with a good focus on educational aspects for the school goers. Parking is adequate. Restaurant is nice albeit a little pricey for the average Mauritian. Expect to shed about 20 Euros/head for lunch. All in all a good place to discover and learn about Mauritius in the past!

  • So much detailed and incredibly well recorded history here. It is worth noting that the Sugar Factory give vouchers to the hotels to put in their welcome packs. These vouchers entitle you to a free sugar tour so it's worth enquiring about the vouchers from your hotel. Sugar Tour has something for adults and children alike. Shop is amazing too so take money. They sell the most incredible varied sugars, jams and honeys which you won't be able to buy in duty free on your way out. They also have some exquisite rum flavours but, again, worth buying on the day as you won't be able to get all the flavours in duty free. Well worth a visit.
